In this two part module*, the attendants will be guided through the basics of desalination systems. A resume about options on membrane and thermal based process will be given followed by a current status in large- and small-scale applications (for domestic water supply). Subsequentially, a parallel will be given regarding the possibilities and perspectives of using desalination as an alternative tool for water supply in water scarcity zones as well as a tool to diversify our current surface and ground water supply based matrix. The course finalizes presenting the challenges and perspectives for brine treatment, valorization and reuse.

* In case you missed part 1, it will be published online soon. So feel free to attend only part 2.
